Computers make it easy to use and
share information. You can use computers to talk to people all over the world.
Check the ten commandments of computer ethics at
Rules help you take care of the
computer and stay safe.
Respect Property
Treat the computer and disks
carefully. Keep food and drinks away from them. Ask for help if you do not know
how something works. Report problems you encounter to people in charge or to
computer experts.
Respect Privacy
Do not look in other people’s
files without permission. Do not delete computer files or programs that belong
to other people. Do not change or destroy other people’s work.
Respect Ownership
People’s ideas belong to them. If
you copy other people’s words or pictures without permission, you are stealing
from them. Always tell where you got the information.
Keep Personal Information to yourself
Do not tell strangers your name,
address, or phone number. Do not give out personal information over the Internet
either. You may not know to whom you are talking.
Do not give out your name,
address, or phone number unless a parent or teacher approves. Tell an adult if
someone asks you for personal information or makes you feel uneasy.
Use the Internet for approved purposes
Anyone can create a web page. Some
web pages contain good information. Others contain wrong information. Some web
pages are not for children. Go to kid’s websites and pages your school and home
recommend.
