Courage is defined as the ability to do something that frightens one. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong!
There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your
critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end
requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs." Courage
is a crucial attribute to possess in order to be successful. Contrary
to what most people believe, courage is a skill that can be learned and
acquired.
7 Steps that helped me develop courage.
1. Dream big. "Passion fuels the rocket, but vision-a big dream- points the rocket to its ultimate destination" ~ Steve Jobs
2. Step out of your comfort zone.
You've got to push yourself out of your comfort zone in order to
leverage your skills to create positive new outcomes for yourself.
3. Face your fears. "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it " -Victor Hugo
4. Take responsibility for your actions and results. Responsibility takes courage. Be responsible for all your thoughts and actions.
5. Be ready to make mistakes. Mistakes are part of the process. Learn from and use them to sharpen your judgement.
6. Be independent.
Take control of your life. Have faith in yourself at the most
fundamental level. The most important person that needs to approve of
you is YOU!
7. Be confident. Feel good about yourself and realize hat you have great potential. Believe that you can do it.
Remember that you are unique. No one else possesses your potential. Tap into it courageously. "This is your life. You are responsible for it. You will not live forever. Don't wait." - Natalie Goldberg. You were born to succeed. GROW to success.
I hope these tips help you as much as they helped me.
