CORRUPTION IN CAMEROON:
HOW IT CAN BE REDUCED
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC) should make reforms in institutional behaviuor. The God fearing citizens should pray for the Nation. Corruption arises because of the lack of fear of God; fear of God means to depart from every form of evil. So if there is the fear of God corruption will be reduced. For those who believe or do not believe in God the solution is that if caught, the law should take its course to make sure these recalcitrant individuals are punished. The President of the Republic of Cameroon himself ought to be transparent. This is because the head of any institution determines or influences the subjects. For example the God fearing citizens should be persistent in prayer, praying for the head of state. If Cameroonians too persistently talk to their head of State President Paul Biya about corruption, he will enforce the arrests that he started and when next he is appointing to posts of responsibility he will look for men/women of integrity. Cameroonians know of Mr. Clean and a Professor “whe i be say i no know i corruption”. Such honest people should be praised and appointed to positions of responsibility. God can use a corrupt person to punish another corrupt person the reason why we should pray persistently. Nebuchadnezzar was a wicked person but God used him to punish the Israelites who transgressed his law. Corrupt authorities shouldn’t spare any subordinate individual who is corrupt because though corrupt they are put there by God to control and sanction their subordinates. Let Cameroonians know the law of nature which uses authorities to punish embezzlers even if the authorities are corrupt themselves. Every Ministry should publish from Region to District where corruption cases can be reported. I have personally had a corruption case which I reported and it was investigated. When an authority does investigation, it may protect the culprit who is one of theirs and would not punish immediately as we would like. You know when you catch a thief he can bribe you not to expose him or her but already you know he/she is a thief. CONAC should create offices from Region to District where corrupt cases can be reported for free. If I report some corrupt person and he is investigated and found guilty, even if he is not punished or protected immediately he/she knows that he has been caught. This step is very necessary to reduce his second act of corruption because second and third will not spare him/her.
