Cameroon-Congo Opens Inter-State University In Sangmélima

The Sub-regional integration involving Cameroon and Congo, has resolved to the creation of an inter-state university to train students from the two countries in Sangmélima, South Region of Cameroon.
The announcement to create the inter-state university was made last Saturday 6th of December, 2014, at Zoétélé in the Dja and Lobo Division by the Cameroon's Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo. The Minister explains that, the inter-state university will be aiming at training students to understand and master innovative professional skills. He added that, the courses that will be offered at this university will be focusing more on high technology training. On Thursday, Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo revealed that this inter-state university will take off by the 15th of January 2015.
The University is therefore a tool to strengthen the South to South cooperation in the field of higher education. It is also an inspiring opportunity for the two countries in the Sub region of the Economic Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC). Though the inter-state University at the moment is yet to have its own site and structures, the maiden institution will be temporarily based in the campus of the 'Collège Notre Dame de Sangmélima" while pending the construction of its permanent structures.
It is a wish of the two heads of States that is Paul BIYA of Cameroon and Denis SASSO NGUESSO of Congo, to further strengthen their diplomatic cooperation in the domain of education. The two statesmen earlier confirmed their intention to open the institution in the South Region of Cameroon during their meeting at the 15th Summit of the Francophonie in Dakar, Senegal. For the final adjustments, a large delegation of Congolese diplomats who were presently in Cameroon, will on Monday 22nd of November, 2014 discuss more issues concerning the inter-state University.
With the opening of this University in the Dja and Lobo Division and specifically in the town of Sangmélima, the Division is certainly going to witness a remarkable growth as it will experience a significant influx of people and aspiring students from within and without the country.
