Two twin suicide attacks in Maroua - the Far North Regional capital of Cameroon left several people dead and many others wounded last Wednesday July
22, 2015. The total number of the dead is not yet known, but the Far
North regional Governor will soon brief the press on the statistics. The
attacks happened at about 2.30pm simultaneously.
Moity Akongjang who spoke with CRTV Far North report Samuel Sawalda, reported that the the Maroua Regional Hospital Mortuary counted seven corpses while other have been taken to other mortuaries in the twon. Her account of the state of the corpses is horrific. Heads decapitated, limbs severed.
The double suicide attacks took place at the Maroua Central Market and a neighborhood known as Bamare.
Eye witness accounts say the suicide bombers were young girls, who were selling dates (a local delicacy).
