Students of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Yaounde I are this Monday 20^th April 2015, involved in medical demonstration activities as part of the awareness programme.

World Malaria Day celebrated every 25^th April was first commemorated in 2008. It is a day set aside by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to address major gaps in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malaria.

This year’s theme like in the past two years is “Invest in the future; Defeat malaria.”

Officials of the National Malaria Control Programme contend that their major challenge presently is to cut down malaria-related fatality by 75 per cent.

Dr Etienne Fondjo is calling on donor organisations to step up their support in the fight against malaria, malaria which is a primary cause of mortality in Cameroon.

Revisited: Award Of Papal Blessings To Mr. Muluh Taku And Catechist Shang In Jakiri

The Jakiri occasion took place in 2008 successfully on the same day the Bishop of Kumbo was rounding his pastoral visit which started on a Thursday for Jakiri Parish. I was in Jakiri well in time before the Holy Mass began with its main celebrant Bishop George Nkuo and two other priests. The Eucharistic celebration which commenced a few minutes after 9:00am on that Sunday was intercepted with Confirmation and Award of the Papal blessings.

The Jakiri Church during that Eucharistic celebration contained close to a thousand worshippers mostly young people on that day. Really the number of children who received confirmation was great coupled to many others present at the Holy Mass. From this anyone present at that Mass could say with certainty that Jakiri Parish is one to be envied and with a good future.

In his homily, the Bishop of Kumbo cut a long story of admirers of Jakiri parish short thus: “if i bi bi na father, i for like for be parish priest for Jakiri”

The Award of Papal blessings took place within the Eucharistic celebration just before offertory. Bishop George called on the Holy Spirit to come and be present at the award of the Papal blessings thanking God for such an occasion and the whole congregation sang the come holy spirit……

The thrilling experience which cannot be left out in the story of such a Holy Mass here is the traditional Bible, then Bread and wine processions.

In the same occasion, the administration of Jakiri was represented by the Divisional officer. There was also a traditional ruler (Fon of Nkar) as I was told who sat on the side facing the altar with his cap on.

I am aware of the present Fon of Tang village who removes his cap and does in church the same like all others and always having the feeling everywhere that Fons emulate this.  In all the things I appreciated Jakiri except for this Fon with his cap on and not respecting standing or sitting when necessary and also the long talk of Mr. Taku though good he did not know how to make it short and it bored the congregation.

After the announcements, the chances were given to four personalities to talk. The D.O for Jakiri, Dr. Ndi, Mr. Taku, the Chairlady Jakiri Parish Council with the Bishop concluding.

In his talk, the present D.O. for Jakiri thanked the Church authorities for inviting the administration. He expressed much surprise that an administrator’s good work was recognized by the Church and Papacy in Rome. He reminded the people and the State not only to be looking at the work of the administrator as that paid for but to also look at the good work they do out of their routine work and recognize them too. To all other administrators present he challenged them with the example of Jakiri quoting that the State and the Church do the same thing in different ways but the case introduced in Jakiri was exceptional – Collaboration in building the Church and Market with the administration. He rounded his talk challenging himself and other administrators to go out of their routine work then emulate Mr. Muluh Taku.

Dr. Ndi thanked the whole congregation and Jakiri parish. Appreciating the papal blessings awarded that day and the building of the Jakiri Church; he told the congregation that apart from their physical Church the builder constructed he has also built churches in the way of helping young Cameroonians at home and abroad to make a living. He commended seeing a brighter future for Jakiri parish from the mammoth crowd of youths receiving confirmation and others present at Holy Mass. He was surprised that that big Church unlike theirs at Foncha Street whose roof is supported by beams from the inside is standing firm. He thanked once again the Jakiri people for the good materials they provided for this big and firm house of God.

During Mr. Muluh Taku’s turn to talk, he compared Jakiri when he was first posted there in 1975. He told the people many of the good things everybody envies of Jakiri today started from when the initiative to transfer the market from its former location then builds the church and market. According to him Jakiri which many like today, when he first came as D.O it was a very bad place. At the square of Jakiri at that time a stranger could not dare even come and buy a drink and sit to drink. An indigene will just slap him and cease that drink. There was not even a nice building there compared to the many you have today. He did not make his story short which bored the congregation but at the end made known to the congregation how God used him that for which he was honoured.

The Chairlady of the Parish Council read an addressed presented to the Bishop of Kumbo on the occasion of his pastoral visit. From it one realizes that Jakiri from baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and Christian numbers has recorded exceptional growth in the past years.

The Bishop reassured the Jakiri people that though the seat of the Diocese was in Kumbo, his home was Jakiri and gave the final blessings.

Out of the Church, snapshots were taken then gifts were presented to the Bishop from various church groups. Present was also Christians from the Cameroon Baptist Convention who also presented their gift to the Bishop and received his blessings. Their song “unity in Christ….”, which they sang coming forward with their gift to the Bishop and to received blessings and their participation at the occasion says much about the cooperation spirit in Jakiri Municipality.

The occasion rose with animated refreshment. The pastoral visit of the Bishop spiced and made the occasion remarkable.

A SPEECH PRESENTED BY MR. TANJONG MARTIN MESHONGONG, LORD MAYOR OF TUBAH COUNCIL ON THE OCCASSION OF THE MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOUNTS SESSIONS OF 17^TH APRIL, 2015

Ladies and Gentlemen.

I am extremely pleased to welcome you all once more on this occasion. Especially the Senior Divisional Officer, Mezam for all his collaboration and support to the proper functioning of this Council.

The year 2014 Administrative and Management Accounts which we are about to examine and adopt witnessed an increase from 256,571,077 (two hundred and fifty six million five hundred and seventy one thousand one hundred and seventy seven)francs CFA collected out of 483,891,524(four hundred and eighty three million eight hundred and ninety one thousand five hundred and two twenty four) francs CFA budgeted in 2013 to 402,881,208 (four hundred and two million eight hundred and eighty one thousand two hundred and eight) francs CFA collected from 462,462,294 (four hundred and sixty two million four hundred and sixty two thousand two hundred and ninety four) francs CFA budgeted in 2014 financial year. Given a total percentage collected in 2014 financial at 87%.

From this amount, 397,352,135 (three hundred and ninety seven million three hundred and fifty two thousand one hundred and thirty five) francs has being spent showing a credit balance to be carried forward to 2015 budget at the sum of 5,529,073 (five million five hundred and twenty thousand and seventy three) francs CFA, this is due to hard work by the staff. Building Permit Commission and Council executive who put hands on deck to achieve this. This would have been more, if councilors could double their efforts in enforcing Revenue collection in their various Council constituencies e.g. okada, market tolls, vegetables, building permits etc. So I am calling on all the Councilors to take this challenge and make it possible that they accompany the Council Executive and staff to raise funds for the development of this our dear Municipality.

The councilors can also bear witness that the Council building that has been a talk of the day is having cracks all over.

In a nutshell; here are some of the developments achieved, in the year 2014 through the Council Action Plan and recurrent expenditure.

1. Grading and expansion of roads within the municipality

2. Purchase of 100 chairs and ten imported tables

3. Construction of a poultry farm at the former council premises producing table birds

4. Celebration of Agro pastoral show 2014

5. Support to palaces in the Municipality

6. Construction of culverts and bridges within the Municipality

7. Electricity extension in Baforkum, Kedjom Keku and Bambili

8. Extension of water in four quarters at Kedjom Keku

9. Extension of electricity in Kedjom Ketinguh ongoing

10. Assistance of 30 benches and two classrooms at G.B.S Techu C.S Babanki Tungo.30 benches to G.T.C Ntigi Bambili and 28 benches to G.T.H.S Sabga

11. Assistance of 100 sheets of zinc of 3m to G.T.H.S kedjtom Ketinguh and G.T.C Kedjom Keku

12. Regular payment of Council staff salaries and pension to pensioners

13. Financial assistance to the needy and persons with disability

14. Holyday jobs to 110 youths of Tubah Municipality

15. Production of 5 pages Almanac 2015

16. Proper used of the functional credits

LITIGATIONS

1. The case of the former Mayor Sofa Meji Stanisluas and Mr.Geh Emmanuel versus Tubah Council is still at preliminary investigation.

2. The case between Julius, Tanjong Martin and the Mayor Tubah Council, rounded up, in favor of the council. The verdicts are on the board.

3. The case between Adangfung Eric and the Council is still under the control of the commission.

4. The case of the supply of a save by Star Enterprise awaits final verdict

These and many more were amongst the projects executed by the Council within the period covered by the Administrative and Management Accounts for 2014.

Revealed: Conceited Sanctity With Double Life. Christians Allays Fears Of 148 Churches Built By Sexual Abuse Prelate Victim Would Be Absconded

Father Marcial Maciel Degollado

Father Mpemchi and other accomplices of the late Father Marcial Maciel Degollado who kept a mistress and fathered a daughter – in short, had lived a double life for many years, keeping a mistress, using Legionary funds to support her, and fathering a daughter now reportedly more than 22 years old have started receiving sanctions for their deeds.

This news was received with shock by many in the order, there were many who wanted the legion to close down when the news first spread in 2006 and many who left.

Instead the Legion’s leadership distanced the Legion from its founder, but with great caution, knowing there has never been an order in the history of the Church that survived after repudiating its founder.

In 2006, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, on May 19, after an investigation into the charges of sexual abuse made against Fr. Maciel by about 20 former seminarians, invited Fr. Maciel to retire to a life of “prayer and penitence” and not carry out his ministry in public. The accusations that Fr. Maciel had sexually abused seminarians first became public in 1997 in a report in The Hartford (Connecticut) Courant daily newspaper. In a letter to the paper, Fr. Maciel denied the allegations, saying: “In all cases they are defamations and falsities with no foundation whatsoever.”

But in 2006 Fr. Maciel stepped down and went into seclusion until his death in 2008.
The Legion in 2008  admitted that Fr. Maciel had a mistress, fathered a child and led a double life. Now who are these all these conceited sanctity with double lives deceiving? The Legionaries in 2008 had 3,250 male members, of whom 850 are priests; about 1,000 consecrated women; and about 60,000 members of Regnum Christi, the lay branch.
